Golden Valley IGolden Valley Memorial Gardens I is a memorial park begun in 1989, owned and managed by the Sorongon Management Corporation. The first private memorial park in Compostela Province, it is located in the northern part of Davao, between the towns of Nabunturan and Montevista in Compostela Valley. It has a developed area of five out of a total of eighteen hectares. Presently, it has more than 4,000 lots. The park is easily visible and accessible because it is along the national hi-way where buses, jeepneys, and tricycles pass by. It is 95 kilometers from Davao City and 50 kilometers from Tagum City. The memorial park serves the nearby towns of Nabunturan, Mawab, Montevista, Compostela, New Bataan, and Monkayo. The park’s distinctive character, apart from other memorial parks, lies in its naturally scenic beauty and landscape, typical of its country setting. It has a rolling terrain, abundant with tropical trees and lush vegetation, and surrounded with mountains. It has a welcoming lagoon at the entrance of the park and a rippling stream winding through the East-West length of the park. Fresh air and peaceful ambiance make the place relaxing and calming. It is an ideal place to be close to nature not only to honor the dead but also to energize the living. Lovers, friends, and families are welcome to take a stroll, to relax and enjoy in get-together picnics under the trees, and to connect with God through contemplation and prayer. The park has many amenities to discover and to appreciate. At the Heroes Plaza, you can find the statues of the largest number of Philippine heroes, forty-five in all, honoured in one place, around a cameo mural of Philippine socio-political history. For a spiritual experience, there are the Shrine of the Virgin Mary, the Stations of the Cross, the 45-foot high Beacon Cross, the Shrine of St. Francis of Assisi, the Shrine of the Risen Christ, and the Amphitheater Chapel where to celebrate Mass and prayers. The Family Playground has a swimming pool, surrounded with the usual rides for children, namely swings, seesaws, jungle gym, and other climbing structures. Truly, Golden Valley is a garden park more for the living than the dead! |
